Ugh, A Setback

I find it remarkable how just when we think we have everything under control, life throws us a setback.

The word “setback,” feels as though you are moving backward from your goal, vs. forwards. You might interpret a setback as the world saying, “don’t get too comfortable, stay on alert!”

Let’s be honest - no one enjoys being thrown off course or defeated.

Yet, a setback is a common occurrence. It presents itself in all different ways; from illness to missed deadlines, errors, traffic, disappointments, and accidents.

However, a setback need not indicate an ending. In fact, it may offer a new beginning.

Here are 4 different interpretations that may be useful for you if you are experiencing a setback:

  • A setback is a sign to look closer, slow down, and make improvements.

  • A setback is a measure of protection.

  • A setback paves the way for more creativity.

  • A setback opens new doors and greater opportunities.

If you accept that a setback is a part of life and a means towards growth, you may find yourself back on track much quicker and with more positive energy.
