Creating Space

The other evening, I was spending time working on a project. After a while, I felt I had hit a wall.

My mind was crowded with many thoughts that inhibited my ability to freely think and create. I acknowledged at this point that I needed to stop. So, I closed my laptop and decided to wait until the next day to resume.

Sure enough, when I returned to the work, my mind felt ready to expand once again. I felt so much clearer having granted myself time to refresh. Taking a step back and consciously choosing to distance from my thoughts is what enabled me to revisit producing and creating.

What I made for myself was space. We all have experienced a cluttered mind and are familiar with how it allows us no room to welcome new thoughts, expressions, or intuitions. Instead, it breeds worry, anxiety, or judgement that block our juices from flowing. Space is the remedy that welcomes possibilities.

In whatever way you need to create space to reach greater productivity, begin now. This might entail pausing what you are doing and going for a walk, a run, closing your eyes, breathing more intentionally, or listening to soothing sounds or music. You don’t have to be in a quiet place or alone to start this process. You just need to allow yourself to quiet your internal noise.
